Just In: Phillies Expected to Make Major Trade for $56 Million For a Powerful Weapon

The Philadelphia Phillies currently hold the best record in Major League Baseball after completing the first third of the season, continuing their strong performance as one of the league’s top teams. However, despite an impressive regular season last year, the Phillies managed just one playoff win before being knocked out by the New York Mets. That early exit highlighted the difficulty of carrying regular-season success into the postseason. With that experience in mind, the team may aim to strengthen its roster ahead of the trade deadline.

Jim Riley of BALLCAP Sports expects the Phillies to bolster their lineup, specifically by adding more power to the outfield. He predicted that Philadelphia could target outfielder Cedric Mullins in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles. “October is going to be brutal,” Riley said. “Navigating the National League playoff bracket will be extremely tough, and the Phillies can’t afford any weak spots. I see them going after Mullins.”

Riley also suggested that Mullins could draw interest from other contenders like the Los Angeles Dodgers or Cleveland Guardians if the Orioles become sellers. Still, a deal with the Phillies seems logical given their ongoing struggles to get consistent offensive output from centerfielders Brandon Marsh and Johan Rojas.
