St. Paul Saints 3, Toledo Mud Hens 2 (10 innings)
The Saints managed to avoid a series sweep with a tight extra-innings win on Sunday. Toledo’s planned starter, Troy Melton, was scratched unexpectedly, forcing the Mud Hens into a bullpen game.
Despite the sudden change, Toledo’s bullpen held strong for most of the game. Drew Sommers opened with a clean first inning, and Trevin Michael, called up from High-A, tossed three scoreless frames despite four walks. Ryan Miller followed with two shutout innings of his own.
Offensively, Toledo struggled but broke through in the sixth. Akil Baddoo walked and stole second before scoring on a two-run opposite-field homer by Jace Jung, his eighth of the season.
Matt Manning allowed a run in the seventh but escaped further damage. Beau Brieske gave up a solo homer in the ninth that tied the game. In extras, a double play killed a scoring chance for the Hens, and with no pitchers left, infielder Riley Unroe had to pitch. He gave up the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 10th.
Notables:
- Jung: 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI
- Ibáñez: 2-for-4, 2B
- Michael: 3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 4 BB, 3 K
Bowie Baysox 12, Erie SeaWolves 4
The SeaWolves, fresh off clinching a division title, dropped the finale as their pitching faltered. Kenny Serwa had his first rough outing at Double-A, walking four and giving up four earned runs in less than four innings. Relievers Ryan Boyer and Yosber Sanchez combined to allow eight more runs.
Erie’s offense had chances but struggled to capitalize. They scratched across runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh but couldn’t mount a serious comeback. Jake Holton’s solo homer in the seventh was his 12th of the season.
Notables:
- Holton: 1-for-3, HR, 2 BB
- Jarvis: 2-for-4, 2B, BB
- Allen: 2-for-3, 2B, BB
- Serwa (L, 3-1): 3.2 IP, 4 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 4 K
West Michigan Whitecaps 5, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3
Potentially playing their final home game before promotions, Max Clark and Kevin McGonigle both homered as the Whitecaps won again. Clark’s 424-foot blast tied the game early, and McGonigle’s two-run shot in the fifth gave West Michigan the lead.
Hayden Minton pitched five innings in relief, striking out seven and earning the win. John Peck added insurance with a solo homer in the seventh.
Notables:
- Clark: 2-for-3, HR, SB, BB
- McGonigle: 1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI
- Minton (W, 2-1): 5 IP, 2 ER, 7 K

Lakeland claimed the shortened five-game set with a late rally. Franyerber Montilla powered the offense with four hits, including a two-run homer in the eighth.
Gabriel Reyes pitched well through five innings but lost steam in the sixth. The Flying Tigers broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh and pulled away with a three-run eighth. The bullpen handled the final three innings cleanly.

- Montilla: 4-for-6, HR, 3 RBI
- Rucker: 2-for-4, BB, SB
