Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly scheduled to undergo a medical at Manchester United next week, with the winger eager to finalize his transfer to Old Trafford promptly. Former United defender Rio Ferdinand has shared his excitement over the potential signing of the Brentford star.
United had a disastrous 2024/25 season—Ruben Amorim’s team finished 15th in the Premier League and suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final, despite Spurs narrowly avoiding relegation themselves.
Looking to bounce back and compete for a top-four finish next season, United have been busy in the summer transfer market. They’ve already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, with Amorim intending to use the Brazilian as one of two attacking midfielders.
Negotiations with Brentford for Mbeumo have been ongoing, and according to TEAMtalk’s transfer expert Fraser Fletcher, the player has expressed a strong desire to join Manchester United despite interest from Tottenham.
After their first bid—£45 million upfront plus £10 million in add-ons—was rejected, United returned with an improved offer. According to ESPN, the new deal will see United pay an initial £60 million, with bonuses potentially raising the total to £65 million.
Sebastien Bassong, former defender for Spurs and Newcastle, praised Mbeumo on BBC World Service’s Sport Today, calling him “a very, very dangerous player” who’s always moving and shows great determination.
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed on Wednesday that Mbeumo is eager to complete what he considers a ‘dream’ move to United as soon as possible.
