Breaking: Man Utd could earn £30m from Greenwood deal after £60m offer, with second signing potentially completed by Monday

Manchester United could be in line for a £30 million windfall, as reports suggest Saudi club Al-Ahli have submitted a £60 million (€70m) bid to sign Mason Greenwood.

So far this summer, United’s major acquisition has been Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5 million deal.

The club is also strongly pursuing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, with several reports indicating that a deal for the Cameroon international is nearing completion.

Securing a new striker remains a top priority at Old Trafford, especially after only four Premier League teams scored fewer goals than United under manager Ruben Amorim last season.

Amid financial pressures, United are reportedly considering a free move for ex-Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

However, they could receive an unexpected cash injection. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Al-Ahli have made a €70m (£60m) offer for Greenwood. Since United are entitled to 50% of any transfer fee due to a sell-on clause, they stand to earn €35m (£30m) from the deal.

Greenwood’s future at Marseille is uncertain, with reports of conflicts between him and the coaching staff as well as teammates, casting doubt over his continued stay at the club.

In the meantime, United are progressing in talks to sign Mbeumo. Journalist Graeme Bailey reported on X that the club hopes to finalize the deal by Monday. Speaking to United in Focus, Bailey said United aimed to complete the signing before the start of pre-season.

He added that Omar Berrada and his team have been actively working on the financial side of the transfer, with Brentford expecting a third offer soon following in-depth discussions.

Although some reports have suggested United might walk away if the next bid is rejected, Bailey downplayed that likelihood. He noted that Mbeumo and his representatives have made it clear they want the move finalized before pre-season to avoid returning to Brentford—something neither party seems to favor.
